Overview
Deep Mind News started as a response to information overload. The AI, machine learning, and NLP fields were expanding rapidly, but staying current required reading dozens of sources daily.
The platform collects, filters, and organizes content from multiple sources into a single accessible feed focused specifically on AI advancement.
The Problem
AI researchers, developers, and enthusiasts face a unique challenge: the field moves faster than any single person can follow. Key developments get buried in general tech coverage, and the signal-to-noise ratio across social media is poor.
There was no dedicated aggregator that combined breadth of coverage with depth of curation.
The Solution
Deep Mind News provides:
- Multi-source aggregation — Collects content from research papers, blogs, news outlets, and community platforms
- Curated content — Top sources identified and prioritized for quality and relevance
- Topic search and filtering — Find content by subfield: NLP, computer vision, reinforcement learning, and more
- Mobile and web access — React Native app for on-the-go consumption, web platform for deeper reading
- Daily updates and alerts — Fresh content delivered on a schedule that matches how the field actually evolves
The NLP layer helps categorize and surface the most relevant content for each user's interests, reducing the noise while maintaining breadth.
Results
Reached 10,000+ users with daily updates. The platform also evolved into a SoundCloud presence, extending the content into audio format for listeners who prefer consuming AI news on the go.
Key Takeaway
Information curation is itself an AI problem. Building Deep Mind News gave us firsthand experience in using NLP to solve the exact problem it was designed for — and informed how we approach content intelligence in later products.
